The rental contracts were in the possession of Furman’s Carnegie Library on the downtown campus in 1943. As was the custom of the time, the rental contracts were added to the unprocessed collections of John S. Hill and William D. Simpson accessioned in 1987. The contracts were removed in 2019 and made a separate collection.
The contracts were transcribed in “Post-Bellum Southern Rental Contracts,” by Furman professor Rosser H. Taylor in Agricultural History, Vol. 17, No. 2 (Apr., 1943), pp. 121-128.
