S.C. Baptist Historical Collection

The South Carolina Baptist Historical Collection at Furman University is a comprehensive collection that documents individuals, churches, and associations in South Carolina Baptist history.

Although Furman University and the South Carolina Baptist Convention (SCBC) separated in 1992, the South Carolina Baptist Historical Collection was considered the official repository of the SCBC until 2002, when they decided to maintain their own organizational records. Furman continues to house records pertaining to individual churches, associations and individuals.

Currently, the collection contains records from over 500 South Carolina Baptist churches, a 5000-volume book collection, church histories, congregational records, association minutes, biographical materials, newsletters, hymnals, and sermons.
