Arrangement

The majority of the collection was originally held in four 3-ring binders. The documents have been removed from their original binders and are maintained in original order in folders.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists of correspondence, historical records, minutes, church histories, typescript notes, handwritten notes, CDs with photograph files and a flash drive containing document files.

The contents of Binder #1 appear to contain research and correspondence by George Troy [G.T.] Jones (1892-1977), a resident of Laurens, S.C.  The binder contains genealogical research and correspondence (both typed and handwritten) regarding churches and pastors from Laurens County. There are also booklets of church dedication services for First Baptist Church, Laurens, S.C., May 18, 1958, and Rabun Creek Baptist Church (August 2, 1828 – August 6, 1978), as well as the booklet by G.T. Jones, History of Beaverdam Baptist Church, Laurens County, S.C., prepared for the 150th Anniversary, August 11, 1957. Jones was the author of two additional publications, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Laurens County, S. C. ; historical sketch (1940), and Mt. Gallagher Church (1959).
