Scope and Contents

The collection consists of letters written between various members of the Bridges and Barr families between 1864-1898.

Folders 1, 3-4 contain correspondence from 1863 – 1868 from Annie “Ziah [Kaziah?] to family and friends, and to and from George T. and Mary (Mamie) Bridges Barr. The letters mostly document every day activities and comment on the health of family and neighbors. There is a reference to the Civil War in the February 6, 1864, letter from Ziah to her Auntie (Folder 2).

Included in the collection is a bound transcription completed in 1991 by Mary (Webb) Copans and her daughter, Laurie Copans of most of the letters .
