Biographical Sketch

Eugenia Helen Ligon, a Greenville native, graduated from Furman University in 1941. She held degrees from the Juilliard School of Music (1949) and the University of Pittsburg. Following a professional career in concert, opera and oratorio, she worked for the USO as Service Club Director in Germany and Holland, and was Executive Director in Augusta, Ga. She held executive positions in health and welfare planning-implementation organizations in Chattanooga, Birmingham and Miami. She was a professor of voice and drama at Erskine College and professor of Community Organization in the graduate schools of the University of Tennessee and the University of Alabama.

Ligon passed away in Greenville on August 16, 1998.
