Arrangement

The collection is arranged by types of material.

Scope and Contents

The Collection on Leland L. Bolding, Six Mile Academy and Six Mile High School consists of diplomas, a letter and a medal from Leland L. Bolding, and a scrapbook kept by his sister, Agnes Bolding Lesley, historian of Six Mile Academy and Six Mile High School Alumni.

The diplomas belonged to her father (E.M. Bolding) and her brother (Leland L. Bolding). The medal and correspondence were also from her brother.

The scrapbook has been disassembled and rehoused. Agnes created the scrapbook in her role as Historian for the Six Mile Academy and Six Mile High School Alumni, 1914-1955. Reunions were held annually starting in 1976, but the scrapbook only contains invitations from 1981-1984. The scrapbook contains original photographs, including one of Leland, as well as photocopies of photographs of people and buildings. There are class lists and information on alumni and teachers including obituaries. Newspaper clippings are also included. There is a paper written by Leland titled “Valedictory.” Included is information on the 1929 tornado and about Dr. David Peek who bought the girl’s dormitory and converted it into a modern 40-bed hospital.
