Custodial history:

According to the note by Mrs. Crawford written in 1902, Dr. Crawford wrote the work between 1879 and 1889 while he was on the mission field in China.  The manuscript was then left in Texas in 1889 and was typewritten by Crawford’s niece [confirmed in Hyatt’s Our Ordered Lives Confess . . ., page 56]. The manuscript was in the possession of Furman's Professor H.T. Cook in 1909 according to the publication Fifty Years in China (p. 313). Since Mrs. Crawford passed away that same year, the manuscript may then have become part of the Baptist Collection at Furman University.
