Acquisition

Spivak’s widow, “Dubby” Lambert Spivak, donated the Charlie Spivak Band Orchestrations to Furman University in January 1983. In July 2008, the Music Library had possession of this collection and Jenny Colvin, Music Librarian, transferred it to Special Collections and Archives.

Custodial History

Furman music professor, Dan Ellis, received the Band Orchestrations and Spivak’s trumpet in January 1983, the music to be housed in the Duke Library. The trumpet remains displayed in Professor Gary Malvern’s office in the Music Department.
