The collection is arranged chronologically by date.

The collection consists of patient journals and medical account books from a physician’s practice in the Privateer section of Sumter County, S.C. from 1872 to 1955. There are bound daybooks, which list patient names, dates and short notations of treatment or medication, and ledgers, which follow the payment history of each account. The handwriting is very difficult to read.
