The Max M. Heller Papers document his business career, political involvement, and his community service. The bulk of the collection contains professional and personal correspondence, professional and personal files, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, photographs, photograph albums, audio and visual, awards and plaques, and artifacts. The Professional Correspondence covers Heller’s time on the City Council 1968-1971, as Greenville City Mayor 1971-1979, and as chairman of the State Development Board 1979-1983.
The personal files contain materials (primarily correspondence) relating to persons and organizations with which Heller maintained personal contact, activities in which he was personally involved, or issues in which he was personally interested.

Business files from his companies before he went into politics; Mayoral subject files, material from his Congressional Campaign as well as his service on the S.C. Development Board; subject files; material about his involvement in Furman’s Heller Service Corps; audio/visual materials from 1960’s to 2000’s; scrapbooks 1969-2020; awards, certificates and resolutions; Honorary Degrees; artifacts; books; as well as loose material including a framed “Super Max” oversize poster, a fabricated elephant foot canister and wooden bust carving. The Map Case holds campaign signs and posters.
