Biographical Sketch

Marjory Wentworth lived in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina until 2023, with her husband Peter and their three sons. She went to school at Mt. Holyoke College and Oxford University, later receiving her M.A. in English Literature and Creative Writing from New York University. She has been nominated twice for the Pushcart Prize and her publications in poetry include the chapbook Nightjars, a book of poetry and monotype prints called What the Water Gives Me, and the poem collection Noticing Eden. Currently she teaches creative writing at the Charleston County School of the Arts and is also a poetry instructor for “Expressions of Healing,” an arts and healing program for cancer patients, and a member of the r Literature Council of Charleston’s Board of Directors. She served as South Carolina’s poet laureate from 2003 to 2020.
