Scope and Contents

This collection contains J. P. Isenhower's personal papers including recipient copies of correspondence, essays, ephemera, land conveyances, notebooks, and sermons. A certificate of election to the S.C. House of Representatives, dated November 30, 1932, is found in the correspondence file. Some materials may be from his time as a student at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Isenhower was a pastor at Little River Baptist Church in Fairfield County, which was organized by Rev. Jacob Gibson in 1770. The collection includes Fairfield District land conveyances of Rev. Jacob Gibson’s son, Jacob and his wife Mary.
