Rev. John Stout was born 12 March 1842 in Mobile, Alabama. He served in the CSA during the American Civil War. Stout attended Furman University 1867-1868 and attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary 1869-1870. Ordained at Hartsville 1870. S.C. Baptist minister who served Welsh Neck Church in Society Hill, 1873-1892; Cheraw, Newberry (1871-1873), and Darlington (1892-1894), S.C. He served on the Furman University Board of Trustees 1877-1880, 1882-94. Stout died on 17 June 1894 (aged 52) in Dallas, Texas after the Southern Baptist Convention meeting.
