Scope and Contents

This collection contains mainly correspondence in the form of letters and emails spanning 1963 to 2014, with the bulk from 1981-2014. The bulk of the correspondence concerns Rouses’ interest in Furman University, its policies and its sports programs. There is also correspondence beginning in 1983 concerning Rouses’ recommendation that Jesse Jackson receive an honorary degree from Furman University.  One folder contains documentation regarding Rouses’ involvement in the burning of a roadside billboard in 1963. The collection also contains Rouse’s Master’s thesis and his Dissertation.
