Scope and Contents

The papers of John and Martha Johns span the years 1947 to 2008 and consist of commemorations, correspondence, family history, diplomas and certificates, newspaper clippings, photographs, and artwork. The collection documents the activities of John E. Johns and Martha Johns at Stetson University and Furman University, and John’s involvement in the Rotary Club and the Masons.  There is congratulatory correspondence on Johns’ advancement at Stetson and Furman Universities, and his retirement; correspondence with their children, and condolence letters after Johns’ passing. Personal Miscellany includes family history, diplomas, certificates, honorary degrees, memberships, material from Johns’ funeral, and some of his writings.
