Dr. J. K. Mendenhall Scrapbook, 1871-1891

Scope and Contents

The scrapbook is titled “The Scrap-Book of Dr. J. K. Mendenhall, owned now by his grandson, J.K. Lawson.” It appears to have been a store ledger belonging to M.J. Mendelhall covering the 1840s-1850s that has been reused. The binding has disappeared. Newspaper articles from papers such as The Working Christian and essays are pasted to pages. Most are unattributed, with those identified being between 1871-1891. Some clippings have been cut from the pages. Many articles are by J.K. Mendenhall. Loose material in-between pages consisting of letters, notes and articles is now in a separate folder. Birth, marriage and death notices about Mendenhall family are throughout.
