Arrangement

This collection is arranged in two series: 1. Printed Material (alphabetical by format or organization); 2. Newspaper clippings (chronological)

Scope and Contents

Newspaper clippings and printed material collected by Ernest E. Harrill beginning when he was chair of the Citizens’ Committee formed by the Greenville County School District to help implement integration of Greenville County schools. The bulk of the material is from 1970 to 1971. Harrill continued to collect newspaper clippings on the topic of desegregation in Greenville. Two articles from 2012 were added to the collection after Harrill’s death. The clippings were photocopied.  Harrill’s wife indicated that he loaned the collection to his students to write papers.
