Arrangement

This collection is arranged in four series:

  • Series 1. Sermon outlines, 1952-1976
  • Series 2. “Inspiration Time,” 1967-1974
  • Series 3. “Joyful Moments,” 1974-1988 
  • Series 4. “Words For Living,” 1977-1988

The original chronological arrangement of each series and the original file names were maintained during processing.

Scope and Contents

The Rev. Emerson L. Isler Papers contain sermon outlines and radio scripts. The numbered sermon outlines include topics and scripture references, with a number of them dated.  Radio sermons from “The Baptist Hour” is a reference file; the program was a 30-minute, modified worship program, produced by the Radio and Television Commission.

“Inspiration Time” was a devotional radio program on Radio Station WJES from 1967-1974, sponsored by the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Trenton, S.C. The folders, titled Tag Sheets and Information, contain radio scripts with story lead-ins.

 “Joyful Moments” was a devotional radio program of recorded music interspersed with related devotional vignettes, 1974-1988. The folders, titled Tag Sheets and Information, contain radio scripts with story lead-ins.

“Words For Living,” was a radio program on WKMG in Newberry S.C. that began October 3, 1977.  In 1989, Polly Isler published her husband’s “Words for Living.” Box 4 contains the entire typescript with all the “Words for Living” scripts dated and numbered. The book indicates the selected numbers in the Table of Contents.
