Scope and Contents
This collection consists of correspondence (thirty-six pieces), essays, addresses, and writings. The majority of the correspondence is recipient copies to Wood Furman regarding family matters, with some correspondence regarding Wood’s teaching appointments. Frequent correspondents include John M. Roberts, a Rhode Island College student who later becomes pastor of the High Hills Baptist Church in Stateburg, S.C.; and former Rhode Island College classmates Jonathan Maxcy [second president], and Asa Messer (1769-1836) [third president].
