Scope and Contents

This collection consists of the scrapbook created by Mary Earle Plyler, likely after she married. Included in the scrapbook are newspaper clippings of sermons, addresses, poems, and scripture, as well as marriage announcements and obituaries of family members. Of note is the clipping regarding the valedictory address she gave in 1873 when she graduated from Greenville Baptist Female College. There are also programs relating to her sons’ education (1909-1917). Die-cuts and greeting cards are interspersed throughout. Dates recorded include the date she met her future husband, the date of their engagement and marriage. It is likely that another family member added to the scrapbook, as obituaries are included for both Mary (1926) and her husband (1939). Pages are not numbered.
