Lucile Nix was born on March 4, 1903, in Jackson, Georgia, to John and Ella Nix. She attended Greenville Woman’s College graduating in 1925. Miss Nix did library work at Winston-Salem, N.C., Knoxville, Tenn., Emory University and finally was Chief Library Consultant with the State Department of Education in Atlanta, Ga. She taught library science during summer sessions at the University of North Carolina and at Tallahassee, Fla. Miss Nix held offices and committee responsibilities in state, regional and national professional organizations. She was chairman of the Special Projects Committee of the Adult Services Division of the American Library Association and president of the Southeastern Library Association. Miss Nix died on December 1, 1968, in Decatur, Georgia, at the age of 65.
