The L.H. Fox Collection consists of 62 first day covers collected by L.H. Fox collected between 1960 and 1972. Fox started collecting stamps so that he could encourage children he worked with to have a hobby.
A first day cover is a newly issued stamp affixed to an envelope and postmarked on the first day of sale at a city designated by the Post Office Department or Postal Service. Artwork depicting the stamp topic, called a cachet, may be included on the left hand side of the envelope.
