Biographical Sketch

Ceille Baird Welch, from the South Carolina low country, spends most of her time with her husband, Jim, on their homestead in Hopkins. After counseling the mentally ill for a large part of her career, she began creatively writing once her children left home. Her honors include winning the Post and Courier SC Fiction Project twice, winning the Spoleto Short Fiction Competition twice, and having her play A Rainbow of a Different Color performed at Spoleto. In 1998, she received an honorary Doctorate of the Arts from Lander University for her distinguished creative writing career.
