During 2012-2013 Collection Services developed a functional, inclusive Deselection Process. Next year we will expand and streamline this process to make collections more accessible and usable for our patrons.
Consistently employ available data, such as EBSCO Consolidated Use Data, to inform collection management decision-making.
During 2012-2013 Content Management looked closely at our gifts practice and process. Next year we will enhance our process for solicitation, receipt, and recognition of material gifts.
Currently the Furman University Library classifies materials purchasing into one-time and recurring categories while FU Purchasing categorises materials purchasing into print and electronic. During 2013-2014 we will work with Purchasing to restructure our accounting system so that internal (library) and external (Furman) accounting is in alignment.
We will update our Division and Departmental Missions to better reflect our services and the Furman University Library’s 2013 Strategic Plan.
In 2013-2014 we will systematically shift divisional folders and documents from the Collection Services Share Drive into Box.
Collection Services will participate in State and regional investigation of Investigate common collections initiatives.
Collection Services will identify strategies to better communicate changes in sources and services both internally and to our patrons.
