Study Rooms

The Duke Library and Music Library offer a total of 29 group study rooms that can accommodate 1-6 students each. The rooms include electrical and network connections and, in some cases, whiteboards.

Reserve a Study Room

Most study rooms are available on a first-come first-served basis. Six group study rooms on the first floor of the Duke Library, and 6 Scholar Study Rooms for individual use on the ground floor of the Duke Library are available for reservation.

  • You can reserve study rooms up to two weeks in advance.
  • You can reserve study rooms for up to twelve hours per week.

Reserve the Audio Recording Studio

The Audio Recording Studio is a sound-insulated room located on the lower level of the Duke Library near the Information Technology Service Center. The room is equipped with microphone, laptop computer with Camtasia and Audacity installed. Faculty, staff and students may reserve the studio for up to 4 hours per week with reservations made no more than two weeks in advance.

Study Room Use Requirements

Students reserving and using study rooms and/or the Audio Recording Studio are expected to do the following:

  • Occupancy of group study rooms are posted on each room. Do not exceed the capacity of the rooms.
  • Do not leave items unattended in rooms for more than 15 minutes
  • Be respectful of noise: group study rooms are not soundproof
  • Adhere to safety and health regulations, and follow the current COVID 19 guidelines
