The Guild of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra was created in September 1958 to garner support for the Orchestra. Mrs. Dorothy Haynesworth was the first president. The Guild focuses on fundraising and volunteer work, one of the longest running fundraisers being the Tour of Homes which debuted in 1979. Other notable events include the Black and White galas and the Masterwork Orchestra dinners.
The Guild also assists in teaching children music education, hosting a variety of youth programs, one of the most popular being Lollipops concerts. Lollipops concerts have been occurring for over 40 years and involve musically reading children’s books at local libraries in Greenville.
