Electronic Databases

Furman University Library provides users with 211 databases accessed through our All Databases LibGuide. Fourty-eight of those databases are provided by DISCUS (Digital Information for South Carolina USers) and 27 are provided by PASCAL (the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries). Furman Library also purchases 11 of our databases through the Carolina Consortium, four of our databases from Lyrasis and  one database through the Oberlin Group. In 2012-2013  $456,333.51 was spent on database subscriptions.

The only print subscription that Furman added in 2012-2013 was Critical Muslim upon the request of Dr. Alfons Teipen and Dr. Karni Bhati.

*According to this chart "Print Journal Subscriptions by Location" we have 572 print journals while according to the charts "New Individual Journal Subscriptions by Format" and "Individual Journal Subscription Renewal by Format" we have only 509 print journals. We receive print copies of 63 of the journals that we order online. These journals are counted as online subscriptions in the chart below but the print copies are retained and placed on the shelf for use for one year.
