Services provided by the Circulation Department include checkout of books and other materials, retrieval of items from closed collections, document delivery pickup, assistance with printers and audiovisual equipment, and directional assistance. The Circulation Department has primary responsibility for staffing the James B. Duke, Maxwell Music, and Sanders Science Libraries.

The Furman University Libraries employ about 60 student assistants.
