Finding Scholarly Research
There are two main databases that will be good sources of scholarly (sometimes called peer-reviewed or refereed) journal articles.One is Academic Search Premier. The other is Worldwide Political Science Abstracts, the main database for research in political science.
Click the "Scholarly (peer-reviewed)" box to limit your results.
Academic Search Premier covers many scholarly disciplines, not just political science. It will return broader results.

Academic Search Premier Academic Search Premier is an interdisciplinary database, covering a broad range of subjects. It contains indexing for 8,172 publications, with full text for nearly 4,700 of those titles.
Worldwide Political Science Abstracts Provides searching of the international literature in political science and its complementary fields, including international relations, law, and public administration / policy.
