Description: This student assistant works in the Technical Services area of the Duke Library. They conduct physical processing of new books including adding call number stickers and security tape. They also assist with receiving select materials, help with electronic resources projects, and conduct other duties as assigned. This position requires the ability to lift and move books and the ability to focus on detail-oriented work for moderate periods of time.

Description: These student assistants primarily work at the Duke Library Research Assistance Desk to provide information and research assistance to library users via chat/text, phone, or in person. They help students, faculty, and community members use our databases, conduct searches, cite sources, and provide support in other aspects of the research process. They help people locate physical materials, such as books, in the library, and access digital materials such as journal articles. Additionally, they provide basic technology support for printing, microfilm, and other needs.

Description: These student assistants work in the Special Collections and Archives department of Duke Library. They organize and file materials; catalog material using MS Word or Excel; shelve and retrieve materials. They need to be able to carefully follow written and oral instructions and to communicate clearly and concisely; they need to handle rare and fragile materials with care and to lift 40lbs with or without reasonable accommodations. Department open Monday to Friday, Noon to 5pm.
