*Business and Accounting: For Faculty

As you plan your course

Does your course include research, information gathering, or use of specialized information tools? Consider partnering with a librarian to increase student support and lighten your teaching burden. An Instruction and Research Services Librarian can work with your students during class and on their own time.

During class

All instruction is tailored to the specific needs of your students, but here are some examples:

  • 5 minutes...
    • Librarian visit to your class to introduce themselves, inviting students to make an appointment for 1:1 research consultations
  • 10 minutes...
    • Very brief overview of research guides and where to find more information
  • 15 minutes...
    • Using citation management software and how to include it in research workflows
  • 30 minutes...
    • Suggestion and demonstration of up to three relevant databases
  • 45 minutes...
    • Demonstrations of digital resources and a practice activity
    • Demonstrations of specialized resources
    • Searching/idea generation activity that leaves students with sources for an assignment
  • 50-75 minutes...
    • Demonstrations of specialized resources with practices activities
    • Research time with librarian available for 1:1 and small group support

Outside of class

  • 1:1 research consultations by appointment
  • Group consultations for group work
  • Group consultations for individual projects with similar topics
  • Research desk hours for walk-up consultations

Students can schedule appointments on their own using the "schedule appointment" button on the librarian profile.
