Joseph Vaughn Plaza located in front of the James B. Duke library is available to be scheduled for use by Furman University campus groups.
Although we love to work with our campus partners, there are some things to know:
There are to be NO activities involving paint, liquid chalk, dyes, or any other materials that may stain or damage the Plaza. In addition marking the steps or porch with chalk is NOT allowed.
Activities may not block or interfere with the accessibility ramp to the Duke Library porch
The library does not provide tables, chairs or any other accessories. Requests for event support, like tables and chairs, may be placed through Furman Facilities Services department.
Chairs and tables may NOT be moved from the library porch.
Solicitation by non-Furman groups is not allowed.
All uses of the Joseph Vaughn Plaza must be in compliance with the policy Scheduling Events in the Furman University Libraries.
Please remember that this confirms space for your event, but your event needs to be registered and approved by the Office of Student Involvement.
Groups and organizations are responsible for cleaning up after the event, including scheduling removal of tables and chairs and making sure trash and recycling are in the proper receptacles within 24 hours of the event.
If your group or organization would like to reserve the Joseph Vaughn Plaza, you must complete the Joseph Vaughn Plaza reservation form, and someone will respond, via e-mail, within 48 hours.
Thank you for including the library in your campus outreach!
