Laptops

12 laptop computer are available for use in the Sanders Science Library. Just grab one that’s not in use and take it anywhere in the Science Library. Once you are done, you can leave it for the next person. Specialized software is available on these desktops, including ArcGIS, SPSS, and Mathematica. Keyboards, mice, and network cables are available at the Circulation Desk.

Desktops

5 desktop computers are available on either side of the Francis Townes Reading Room entrance. Specialized software is available on these desktops, including the programs listed to the right.

Printing

Printing is available in the Sanders Science Library from any of our laptop or desktop computers. Printing is only available in black-and-white and all print-outs will be double-sided. The printer is located next to the Circulation Desk.

Digital Scanner

A flatbed scanner is available at the first desktop computer to the left of the entrance to the Frances Townes Reading Room.  Scanning, OCR, and editing software is also available on this computer.

42-inch Monitor

A  42-inch television monitor is mounted on the wall of the enhanced study room. A cable is connected to allow easy connection to any laptop. The monitor is ideal for group presentation preparation or group research. The Science Library Wii can also be easily connected.

Digital Projectors

Two digital projectors are available at the Circulation Desk for use in the Sanders Science Library. 

Graphical Tablets

Twelve graphical tablets are available for check out at the Circulation Desk with a Furman ID. They can be connected to any of the laptop and desktop computers in the Science Library. Graphical tablets offer better control and precision than a mouse when using visual software, such as ChemDraw. Check out a driver CD to use a tablet with your own laptop.

Wireless Graphical Tablets

Two wireless graphical tablets are available for check-out at the Circulation Desk with a Furman ID. They can be used with any of the laptop and desktop computers in the Science Library.

Digital Camera

A digital camera available at the Circulation Desk for use in the Sanders Science Library. 

Wii Console

A Wii and several games are available at the Circulation Desk for use in the Sanders Science Library. It can be connected to the 42-inch monitor in the enhanced study room or one of the digital projectors.
