Voting While A Furman Student

Furman students who are South Carolina residents may register and vote in Greenville for state-wide and national races. You will not be able to vote in regional races in your part of the state unless you register and request an absentee ballot from your county.

Furman students who are from outside South Carolina should register and request absentee ballots from their home state.

Furman Students Can Vote in the Election No Matter Which State They Come From

If you are 18 years old, a US Citizen, legal resident of Greenville County (this includes residential college students), and you are not declared mentally incompetent by a court of law, then you can register to vote by presenting proper identification, to the Voter Registration Office in Suite 1900 of County Square which is located at 301 University Ridge (in downtown behind Falls Park and the Governor's School.)

Go to Greenville County Election & Registration office (8:30-5, M-F) by October 7, 2022.

Bring (valid driver's license OR social security card OR current pasport) AND (Furman ID OR proof of residence at Furman)

Three Furman University students filed a lawsuit in Greenville County that challenged the county election commission’s handling of voter registration for college students who choose their school address as their legal residence.
